Toy Machine Gun is a 4-piece alternative rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Formed by Mark Strothmann (Bass, Vocals) and Sam Taylor (Vocals, Guitar) while still teenagers, joined by childhood friends Chad Larkin (Guitar, Vocals) and Rob Reinke (Drums).
Released on October 27, 2001, their debut album 'Where's the Mansion?' captures a pivotal moment in Milwaukee's indie rock scene. Toy Machine Gun adheres to their influences of classic and alternative rock, channeling it into instant classics like 'Dubrighteststar,' 'No Second Guess,' and '10 Cent Lemonade.'
Their unique sound captures the spirit of a lifelong friendship and love of rock 'n' roll. Toy Machine Gun crafts catchy songs with a dash of sentimentality that describe their experiences and adventures growing up in the land of Gene Wilder, Harley-Davidson, and breweries.
The album's 10 tracks showcase the band's range, from catchy power pop anthems to more experimental moments, making 'Where's the Mansion?' an interesting and rewarding listen.
This original 2001 CD pressing is now a limited edition collector's item, representing an important document of early 2000s Midwest indie rock. For fans of heartfelt, guitar-driven alternative rock with authentic Midwestern roots, 'Where's the Mansion?' remains a hidden gem worth discovering.
